JD's earn Provincial Crests

Fifteen TBirds earned Provincial Crest over the course of the season. In order to qualify for a crest athletes needed to post three crest performance of the same level (gold, silver or bronze) during the season.

The following athletes earned a gold crest: Yvonne Deng, Hayley Madden, Marie Louise Forsyth, Michael Mitchell, and Shaunika Suriya

The following athletes earned silver crests: Kayla Klym, Kirstie Merkt-Caprile, Willem Palaty and Kieran Lumb

The following athletes earned bronze crests: Gabriela Aquilini, Oliver Jang, Thomas Palaty, Noah Wilding, Matthew Murphy and Thomas Broatch

The crest will be awarded at the annual dinner in November.

TBirds Shine at JD Championships - Kamloops - July 22nd to 24th

The last meet of the season, the BC JD Championships, provided excellent conditions for best performances and the TBirds did not disappoint. Each athlete recorded PB's over the weekend and should be proud of what they achieved. Way to go!!!

Highlights of the meet were:

Shaunika Suriya earning gold and bronze medals in the long jump and shot and recording PB’s in long jump (3.31 to finish first), shot (4.70m),, high jump (1.08m) and the 100m (16.93 to finish 7th). She also finished 7^th in the 60m (10.39) and 4^th  in the 60m hurdles in 13.10.

Marie-Louise Forsyth – Finished 2^nd in Long Jump with 4.33, 3^rd in Javelin with a PB of 23.64, and had a PB in the 300m of 46.52

Haley Madden – finished 5^th in LJ with a huge PB of 4.35, a mark that guarantees her a gold crest

Kirstie Merkt-Caprile – recorded a PB in the 100m of 14.91 and a PB of 5.72m in shot.

A great time was had by all both at the meet and at the team dinner held on the Saturday night.
